Pictures of Cordoba, Mexico

Having visited both cities, Cordoba appears to be the better pick as state capital both in location and regal appearance of the city center. For a 12 peso bus ride out of my Orizaba base, Cordoba offers a whole different look and feel. Additionally, although the cousine is similiar to that of Veracruz (city), the experience here seems more authentic (less tourist targeted).

Better choices for budget hotels here than mentioned in hopelessly outdated and poorly scouted travel books include the Hotel Los Reyes a half block north of the zocalo and the Hotel Vigo (huge rooms) south of the market. Both approximately 150 pesos single with cable TV.

The strikingly blue Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepcion occupies the southeast side of the zocalo. Another work of art the Hotel Mansur is north of the Parroquia (just viewable right). The northwest side of the zocalo is occupied by the stately architecture of the city hall.

Views of the above buildings through the portals occupied by restaurant-cafes.
