These are all shots of the better preserved surfaces of the Temple Quetzalcoatl. They are in or near the niche between the the two structures that make up the temple. The tour goes right through here (south to north) and there is an outdoor amphitheatre that takes advantage of the natural seating area on the east side of the smaller structure (facing the larger) where lectures are given of particulars and generalities.
There is an impressive painted reproduction of a portion of the temple in the Teotihuacán Sala (room) of the Anthropologocal Museum in Bosque Chapultepec (park) in Mexico City. |

| As you are probably aware, the surfaces of all the temples, pyramids, and plaza walls in Teotihuacán were brightly painted making it a most fantastic visual treat. This is one of the few hints that you will get of that magnificence. | The temple walls were originally very well finished in relief and decorated with 3-d replicas of their sacred images and icons. | Looking back south between the temple structures is another example of the architectural detail on the stairs of main structure. The metal bars have been added to prevent collapse of the heavy carved heads. |
