Pictures of Cucuchuchu, Mexico

From the Bocanegra Plaza in Patzcuaro you can hop a bus for 7 pesos to this village at the end of the line past Ihuatzio. It is on an arm of land that juts into Lake Patzcuaro from the southeast. Cucuchuchu consists of a group of homes organized into blocks and a church on the square where the bus turns around. There is not much else. No restaurant or lodging. The surrounding land especially in the direction of the lake is mostly undeveloped and looks to be in pre-Columbian condition with cactus and low growth. It feels like a good residential area if you are contemplating building a home.

Looking southeast this is the church at the bus turn around which is pretty much the only public building in town. If you find the road out of town to the west (follow the power poles) you will come to the lake on a road requiring a high clearance vehicle. Out there you will find horse pasture, cactus, and this great view of Isla Janitzio in Lake Patzcuaro.
