The state of Guerrero is probably most famous for the city of Acapulco, the jewel of its long stretch of Pacific coast. It is a mountainous state rich in minerals that over two millenia has been mined to exhaustion in spots. One such spot is the fabulously preserved colonial hill city of Taxco where tourism based partly on retail silver trade florishes as in international destination.
